Charles Beaty, 1921 S. Maple St., Auburn, died at age 84 in DeKalb Memorial Hospital at 4:30 a.m. Sunday. He had been ill a year and hospitalized for two weeks.
Mr. Beaty was born in DeKalb County Dec 5, 1889, to James and Iola (sic) Beaty. He married Lavina Maginnis Sept. 30, 1916. The retired B&O railroad foreman was a member of the Auburn Missionary Church. Surviving are the wife; three sons, Charles Jr., Miami, Fla; William J., Coldwater, Mich., and Gene, 1909 Maple St., Auburn; one sister, Mrs. Joy Summers, St. Joe; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gerig's Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Kruger, pastor of the Missionary Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
