He was sent to this earth by a loving Heavenly Father to parents Robert and Martha Cogdell Fly on March 7, 1932 in Wilson, North Carolina.
Aulsa joined the United States Air Force in 1951 where he fought in the Korean War. When he returned home, he met and married the love of his life, Jean Hodges in 1955, moved to Suffolk in 1961 and together they raised four children.
He graduated from the Apprentice School at Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he would work for over thirty years in the sail loft. There he would make many life long friends.
He had a great love for the outdoors and would devote many years teaching the Boy Scout of Troop 256 in Portsmouth, where he served along with his brother Joe.
Aulsa was devoted to his Church where he served as a High Priest and held many church callings and assignments. His commitment to the Lord and his testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ would never waver and remain the center of his life until he drew his last breath.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Fly; brothers, Robert, Joe, Garland, Garrett and Talmage.
Leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Jean H. Fly; sister, Charlotte Zicafoose; children, Aulsa Fly Jr. and wife, Maribeth, their children, Austin, Adrienne, George Fly and wife, Ginny, their children, Robert, William, Eric Fly and wife, Carol, their children, C.J., Philip, Jeremiah, Chris and Ben, Dorothy Fly Cerruti and husband, Michael their children, Nick, Jennifer Cowan and husband Phillip, their son, Landon.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Loving Funeral Home Churchland Chapel. A celebration life will be held at 10 a.m, Saturday, in The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Suffolk Bishop Sloat officiating. A private burial will be held at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
