Aulsa Cogdell Fly Sr. completed his earthly mission on December 28, 2011 at 2:30 a.m. and returned to his Father in Heaven to be forever reunited with his parents, his 6 brothers and countless other family members.

He was sent to this earth by a loving Heavenly Father to parents Robert and Martha Cogdell Fly on March 7, 1932 in Wilson, North Carolina.

Aulsa joined the United States Air Force in 1951 where he fought in the Korean War. When he returned home, he met and married the love of his life, Jean Hodges in 1955, moved to Suffolk in 1961 and together they raised four children.

He graduated from the Apprentice School at Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he would work for over thirty years in the sail loft. There he would make many life long friends.

He had a great love for the outdoors and would devote many years teaching the Boy Scout of Troop 256 in Portsmouth, where he served along with his brother Joe.

Aulsa was devoted to his Church where he served as a High Priest and held many church callings and assignments. His commitment to the Lord and his testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ would never waver and remain the center of his life until he drew his last breath.

Leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Jean H. Fly; sister, Charlotte Zicafoose; children, Aulsa Fly Jr. and wife, Maribeth, their children, Austin, Adrienne, George Fly and wife, Ginny, their children, Robert, William, Eric Fly and wife, Carol, their children, C.J., Philip, Jeremiah, Chris and Ben, Dorothy Fly Cerruti and husband, Michael their children, Nick, Jennifer Cowan and husband Phillip, their son, Landon.
