Florence Farley Abshire, 83, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Tazewell, Va.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro.

She was a past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 14, a past Worthy High Priestess of Gate City Shrine 2 Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, a past Royal Matron of Triad Court 13 Order of Amaranth and a past Grand Royal Matron of Order of Amaranth of Grand Court of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Alvin Powell of Greensboro and Luther Abshire of Camp Creek, W.Va.

She is survived by a son, Richard Powell of Tazewell, Va.; brother, Clinton Farley of Princeton, W.Va.; sisters, Cora Mae Bradley of Radford, Va. and Nellie Rose of Kegley, W.Va; three grandchildren, Robin Stein of Conover, Rick Powell of Conover and Wende Thomas of Colfax; five great-grandchildren; niece, Sue Cline of Greensboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to any of the above mentioned organizations in Greensboro, NC or to a charity of one's choice.
