Ruth Delores James Adams, 80, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 31, 2013.
Mrs. Adams was born November 30, 1932 in Hartsville, S.C. a daughter of the late Henry and Maude Melton James. She has spent the last 62 years married to the love of her life, the Rev. Gary B. Adams. No other words can describe her better than Proverbs 31:10; 28-31. "Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies…Her children rise up and call her blessed: Her husband also, and he praises her: Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing. But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates. A faithful servant of god."
Mrs. Adams committed her life to God at an early age and has always kept her eyes set on God. She fully believed that God's will for her life was to support her husband's call into the ministry and to instill the importance of living a Christian life in her children. She accomplished this and more through personal witness, devout prayer life, and study of the bible. Many have been blessed by Mrs. Ruth's many humble ways to minister to others
She amazingly incorporated being a full time mother, full time worker and full time minister's wife with returning to complete her education. She enrolled in the Williamsburg County's COP program, attended USC and earned her BA in education. She taught school in the Williamsburg County School System, mainly at the Cades-Hebron Elementary School. She touched the lives of many children as a school teacher and through the church. We want all to know that Ms. Ruth experienced a life of quality and joy through even the more difficult stages of her life. We have been blessed to have this dear soul in our lives.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband of the home Rev. Gary B. Adams, of Kingstree, a son Rev. E. Bruce Adams, of Chesterfield, two daughters Alice (Tommy) A. Dukes, of Greeleyville and Nancy R. Adams, of home. Her two granddaughters Christina (Cleve) Morris, of Manning and Nora (Josh) Woiki, of Navaise, FL. Her four great grandchildren Caitlin Parrott and Dylan Morris, of Manning and Tristan and Natalie Ruth Woiki, of Navaise , FL. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters Betty Reid and Cherry Patricia Tyner, and her brothers Larry and Ronnie James. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Donald Fox, of MUSC in Charleston, SC and two special care givers who provided respite care in the home.
