Patrick Heaton was born in Ireland on March 8, 1852. He came to this country with his parents seventy-two years ago and for years they resided in Illinois. He moved to this county some thirty-seven years ago and engaged in farming for years. He has reared his family in this city and has seen Estherville grow from a village to a prosperous city.

Mr. Heaton was united in marriage to Mary Farley at Seneca, Ill., February 18, 1886. He is survived by a widow and three daughters, Anna Heaton of Estherville, Mrs. Earl Kruse of Estherville and Mrs. B. A. Gronstal of Council Bluffs; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. J. Farley of Seneca, Illinois, and three nephews, Dennis Heaton, John Heaton and Jerome Heaton, all of Seneca.

The funeral services were held from the St. Patrick’s Church at Seneca, Ill., on Friday morning, the Rev. Father Huggins officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery in that city beside his only son, James, who passed away twenty-one years ago. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 12, 1928)

The body of Patrick Heaton was taken to Seneca, Ill., for burial, where a High Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, in St. Patrick’s church for the repose of his soul. The Rev. Fr. Higgins was the celebrant. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
