Born in Twin City, Ga., he came here four years ago from Jacksonville and was a retired division manager for Sears Roebuck & Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and received one Silver and two Bronze stars and two Purple Hearts in the European Theater. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chester McKay Post 7987, both of New Port Richey. Survivors include his wife Mary J.; two sons, Herbert W., Bradenton, and Roger M., Trenton, N.J.; a brother John B., Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Marjie Whitehead, Jacksonville, Thelma Hendrix, Savannah, Ga. and Aileen Still, Augusta, Ga., and one grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at North Funeral Home, New Port Richey, with Rev. Tom Bennett, First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, officiating.
