Robert Vernon Loftin, 84, of 1271 Albemarle Road, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church on Pekin Road with the Reverend Douglas Shuff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a Montgomery County native and a World War II veteran. He had worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Surviving are wife, Irene Kelly Loftin; son, John Robert Loftin of Troy; brother, James Harrell Loftin of Southern Pines; sisters, Helen Ann Loftin Harris of Albemarle and Elba Louise Loftin Scarborough of Asheboro.

The family will be at the cemetery prior to the service.

Edwards Funeral Home of Mount Gilead is in charge of arrangements.
