Dr. Charles L. Herrick

AKRON — Dr. Charles L. Herrick, 79, 220 Mishawaka St., Akron, died at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday in his residence. He had been ill one year.

He was born Oct. 15, 1906, in Winamac, to B.F. and Dora Decker Herrick.

He was past chief of staff at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. A retired medical doctor, he had practiced medicine in Akron from 1934-1984. He was a 1933 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He was a member and past master of the Akron Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne, Knights Templar of Warsaw, and the Royal Arch No. 90 of Rochester.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in Italy. He was a
member of the Akron United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a sister, Thelma Lego, Three Rivers, Mich.; two brothers, Everett, Margaretville, N.Y., and Chester, Fruitvale, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Merlyn Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 8:30 p.m.
