Charles was the 6th of 7 children born to John Bengry and Anne Jones who were married on the 27th May 1824 at St. Peter's Church, Diddlebury, Shropshire 


He was baptized on the 9th May 1837 at the Old Street Chapel (Primitive Methodist), Ludlow, Shropshire.


He married Martha Evans Hughes in 1858, the marriage was registered in Knighton, Radnorshire.

On the 1901 census he is listed as a shopkeeper/grocer in Stoke on Trent, Staffs. Charles was widowed when Martha died in 1919.


Charles' son, Cecil ran the shop after his father died and did so until his own death in 1936.


Charles died aged 83/4.
