Mildred E. Ackerman, 83, of Rockofrd, died at 12:05 a.m Thursday Aug. 8, 1996, in Saint Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. Born Jan. 11, 1913, in Boone County, Ill., daughter of James D. and Grace (McEachran) McEachran. Lived 36 years in Rockford, coming here from the Caledonia area. Married Robert G. Ackerman in Boone County, Oct. 5 1935. She was a homemaker. Also held a real estate broker's license and was employed a number of years by Valley Realtors of Rockford. Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere, and the Over 60 Club; former member of the church's finance committee. Member of Boone County Farm Bureau, Boone County Home Extension Service and the Just for Fun Group of Caledonia. Graduate of Rockford Central High School.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter, Carol Sue (Jim) Jonuska of Delavan, Wis.; son, Gary (Nancy) Ackerman of Roscoe; grand-children Diane Vella, Deobrah Sargent, David Shattuck, Dean Shattuck, Bradley Jonuska and Angela Jonuska; and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents; daughter, Janice Shattuck Anderson; and sister, Florence Williams.
Services at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, in Immanuel Lutheran Church on Genoa Road, Belvidere, with the Rev. Eugene E. Wille and the Rev. Robert B. Schaeffer, pastor, co-officiating. Burial in Scottish Cemetery, Argyle. Visitation 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere. Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
