She was born on March 24, 1927 in Richmond the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Stump) Schneider and graduated from Richmond Senior High School.
Mrs. Abel was formerly employed at Richmond Bakery Company and also in the cafeteria at Southside High School.
She enjoyed gardening her vegetables and flowers, and her family.
Surviving are her husband of sixty five years, Russell; three children, James Abel (wife, Debbie), Ted Abel, and Sherrie Abel; two granddaughters, Valerie and Pamela Abel; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jaiden, and Jayce Turner, all of Muncie; two sisters, Helen Brown, Richmond and Elizabeth Meyer, Manassas, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeanette Crow.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Entombment will follow in Earlham Memorial Mausoleum, Richmond.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel or one hour prior to services on Monday.
