Mabel Mayeux Vead, 98, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at her residence.
Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton J. Vead; her parents, Valrie and Eunid Mills Mayeux; her daughter, Sylvia Toves; and seven brothers and sisters.
Mabel was born on December 22, 1923, in Hessmer, Louisiana. She met her husband, Hilton, and they devoted their lives to each other for 65 years until his passing. She also shared her love and devotion with her family and leaves behind a legacy as a remarkable wife and mother who always loved and cared for everyone, anytime they needed her. Mabel also showed great devotion to Christ through her active membership as a choir member at St. Rita Catholic Church, as well as membership of the Catholic Daughters of America, and as a wonderful friend to the Sisters of Divine Providence. She found great joy and fulfillment in her 45 year career as a beautician and truly lived a full life of love, humility, compassion and faith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Rev. Victor Vead; two grandsons, Mike Toves and Anthony Nick Toves; five great-grandchildren, Micha Collie, Heather Lawrence, Clare Coleman, Austin Toves, and Taylor Toves; and eight great great-grandchildren, Finley, Eli, Axel, Sawyer, Everly, Lucy, Archer & Dallyn.
Mabel's son, Rev. Victor, would like to thank A-Med Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness over the last two years, Mabel's caregiver for four and a half years of loving care, Ms. Sandra, and Rev. Victor would also like to thank his brother priests of the Catholic Diocese of Alexandria for their brotherly ministry to him during this time.
