He was a native of Columbia, SC and was the son of the late Rufus S Scarboro and Louvia Cline Scarboro.
Before he retired and moved to Danville four years ago, he was employed by the Norfolk Naval Yards and lived at Chesapeake, VA.
In 1948 he married the former Woodrith Reynolds, who survives. He was a member of Burton Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of Danville and two sons Larry Scarboro of the home and Elgin P Scarboro, Jr of California.
Also left are five brothers and a sister, Stuart Scarboro of Camp Hill, PA, Rufus and Howard Scarboro, both of Danville, Claude and Raymond Scarboro, both of Miami, FL and Mrs. Mary Alice Ives of Rockledge, FL.
Funeral rites were conducted at Wrenn-Yeatts Chapel by the Reverend Ralph McCormack.
Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.
