BAIRD, Benjamin O'Connor Jr., lifelong resident of Richmond, 72, of Glen Allen, died on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Sr. and Ellen Bonker Baird.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Wedemeyer Baird; a son, Benjamin O'Connor Baird III (Melissa); daughters, Karen Baird Cozens (Lloyd) and Ingrid Baird Girardi (Peter); a brother, Raymond Baird; grandchildren, Emily, Connor, Catherine, Henry and Aidan Baird, Paul, Christian, Elizabeth and Patrick Cozens, and Quinn, Ellie and Mia Girardi; and an aunt and uncle, Olive and Wilbur Grizzard.

He retired from DuPont. He was a member of Gesang Verein, Va., Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Company of Military Historians.

The family will receive friends Monday at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., from 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 105 South Snead St., Ashland, Va. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Commonwealth Catholic Charities or St. Ann's Catholic Church, Ashland, Va. "Benjie has left the building."
