He was born in Boston, MA, on July 13, 1927, a son of the late Thomas A. and Margaret (White) Dunbar and lived in Burlington for 45 years, before moving to Lunenburg.
Mr. Dunbar was employed by the MBTA as a Staff Manager for 48 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Leominster and was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus in Burlington, MA. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they were the highlight of his life.
His wife of 39 years, Rosalie (Cronin) Dunbar, died in 1989.
He was predeceased by two sons, Stephen M. Dunbar in 2011 and Christopher J. Dunbar in 2004, and one sister, Elizabeth Muldoon in 1988.
