Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Sts. Peter & Paul Episcopal Church in El Centro. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mr. Alford was born March 28, 1941, in El Centro, where he attended schools and graduated from Central Union High School in 1959.

He later graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona.

Mr. Alford married Cherie Alford. They purchased the Alford Distributing Co. in 1978, a family business that celebrated its 54th year in business this year. The company is the exclusive distributor of Anheuser-Busch products and has received numerous civic and industry awards throughout the years.

Mr. Alford was well known for his extensive collection of antique automobiles. What started as a small collection of cars, including a 1929 Model A that he bought for $5 developed into a world-renowned collection of Fords and Franklins. The Alford collection includes a Ford from every decade and several of the rare Franklins in the world. Alford's Antique Car Museum is in the Alford business facility on East Main Street in El Centro.

Mr. Alford was well known for his generous contributions to charities and events throughout the Imperial Valley. He also took pride in his involvement with festivals in Borrego Springs, Julian and Mexicali. He served in the California National Guard and was stationed at Fort Ord.

He was integral in the groundbreaking for the Pioneers' Museum and the Sunrunners Club of El Centro. Following in his father's footsteps, he served on the California Beer Distributors Association board for several years.

Survivors include his daughter, Cherisse R. Alford of Spokane, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carolyn Alford of El Centro; brother, Tom Alford of Athena, Ore.; uncle, Willard Bogue of Imperial; cousins, Andy and Pinky Bogue, both of La Quinta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Richard Alford Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1845, El Centro, CA 92243 or to the El Centro Regional Medical Center building campaign, 1415 Ross Ave., El Centro, CA 92243.
