Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the husband of Vernie Jackson Aaltonen and was the son of the late Aaro Herbert Aaltonen and Laura Price Aaltonen.
Mr. Aaltonen attended Clemson University where he was a member of the Persian Rifles, graduated from Limestone College, was employed by Plygem and was a member of the NRA. He was a U. S. Army veteran and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Christopher Scott Aaltonen of Spartanburg, Terrence Lee Aaltonen and wife, C.J., and John Theodore Aaltonen and wife, Kathy, all of Gaffney; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Hawkins, Christine Hawkins and Janice Aaltonen and a brother, Bud Clyde Byars.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Blakely Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Jackson and Pastor Robert Wells officiating.
