Marcelina Olson, age 72, of Mondovi, Wisconsin died peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, surrounded by her family and closest friends after a short battle with cancer.
She was born to the late Marcelino and Ciriaca Tapucol on February 22, 1940 in the Philippines, the fourth of six children. She married Donald L. Olson, Chief Petty Officer, US Navy, on July 18, 1970 and they moved to the United States in 1972. Marcelina's greatest treasure was her family - her husband, five children, and twelve grandchildren. She loved nothing more than spending time with and caring for her family, friends, or really anyone who happened through the front door. She is fondly remembered singing while moving about the kitchen and 'camping' on the floor of the living room with her grandchildren. Marcelina gently and lovingly cared for the sick and the elderly at the Rusk County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Ladysmith, Wisconsin for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and, despite her best efforts, never hit the 'jackpot' in Powerball. She will be dearly missed here on earth, but we take comfort in the knowledge that she is in the loving arms of Jesus.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Marilou (Mike), Donna (Eric), Dawn (Rob), Dominique (Genalyn), Myria (John); and her twelve grandchildren, Kirstin, Surreia, Collin, Hunter, Noah, Warren, Allyza, Rian, Will, Ethan, Alec, and Aidyn.
