Nancy and Festus had three kids: Grace R. "Gracie", Clara E. "Carrie" Kuhns nee McElhaney, and Elizabeth G. "Bessie" Beamis nee McElhaney.

She is with her parents and two of her three siblings in Sims Twp., Grant Co, IN in 1860. There are lots of family ties to this area going back to her grandfather Taylor's settlement in Grant County about 1840.

Nancy probably is one of the "granddaughters" listed in the 1870 census page 20 in Richland Twp., Jay Co, IN which shows Mary Taylor 14, "servant", & Ida Belle 12 & Cora 10 as "grandchildren", living with Samuel and Elizabeth Hesser nee Caylor. Elizabeth was the girls' maternal aunt. I suspect Ida Belle and Nancy Ellen are the same person.

She and her siblings are noted in John Hoppes' Guardian Report in Jay Co, IN in 1870 (because they were all orphaned in 1863).

The June 1880 census for Wayne Twp., Montgomery Co, OH image 7 has a Nancy E. Taylor living with the STONER family (who were the STONERs and why Montgomery Co?). Image 20 has Festus Mcelhany. Soon after she and Festus were married in Montgomery Co.

The 1900 census for Wayne Twp., Montgomery Co, OH has Nancy & fam. Wayne Twp became the city of Huber Heights in 1980. It is adjacent to Bethel Twp, Clark Co, OH.

The 1910 & 1920 census for Wayne Twp., Montgomery Co, OH has Bessie living with Nancy aka Ella.

Regarding Nancy's possible earlier connection to Montgomery Co, the 1910 census p 14, dist 0001, Bethel Twp., Clark Co, OH, has an Emma Dolan age 42 b Indiana 1868, parents b OH, husband age 41 b IL 1869 parents born "Ire English", occupation farmer. It shows them married 11 years. It shows no children. His occupation and her age makes me skeptical this is Nancy's sister Sarah and her husband John but note his possible presence in Clark Co, OH in 1880. Also, perhaps the McElhaney's living in Jay Co in the mid-1800's were related to Festus? Perhaps Emma met her future husband Jack Dolan on a visit to Nancy in the late 1800's.
