James Paul Snook, of Deming, New Mexico since 2003, passed away at his home on June 28, 2013.

He was born January 24, 1957, in Valparaiso, Ind. and grew up in Chesterton, Ind.

He is survived by his rescued ‘children' T-Bone and Ilsa, his older brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Joanna Snook, of Houston Texas.

His mother and father, Delores and George Paul Snook preceded him in death.

During school he was an active member of the Chesterton High School band, playing trumpet. He was a cast member in almost every school play in his four years and sang with the school and Bethlehem Lutheran Church choir. He was an avid fan of monster movies, barbershop quartets and game shows. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington, after high school.

He was an employee of Terminix before retiring to Deming, New Mexico with his father. He worked part-time at the animal control shelter in Deming until a brain tumor left his leg partially paralyzed.

Snooky was a friend to everyone he met and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held in Chesterton, Ind., at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at a later date. His final resting place will be Chesterton Cemetery.

Any donations to the family for funeral expenses, transportation and headstone would be greatly appreciated. They may be sent to 1168 Gecko Rd., Breaux Bridge, LA, 70517, c/o Cheryl Willett.

A memorial service is planned on Saturday, Oct. 12, for James Paul Snook, age 56, who passed away at his home in Deming, New Mexico, on June 28, 2013.

The memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, Ind., at 11 a.m. The officiating Pastor Thelma will welcome any information family and friends would like presented, personally or by her. She can be contacted at 219-926-4223.

Immediately following the service, Jim will be taken by his pallbearer Bill Nicholson, to Chesterton Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his mother, Delores Snook. All are welcome to attend.

All family and friends are invited to a ‘pizza fest' in Snooky's honor, sponsored by Bill and Marilyn Nicholson, at his favorite pizzeria, Gelsosomo's, on Indian Boundary Rd., Chesterton. Pizza and salad will be served around noon (drinks not included).
