Jonathan Hills was the son of Eliphalet and Jerusha (Smith) Hills of East Hartford. He married Mar. 21, 1814 at the First Church in Glastonbury, Lavina "Vina" Porter, a daughter of Benjamin Porter (1730-1806) and his second wife Elizabeth (House) Webster Porter (1750-1830).

Jonathan and Lavina "Vina" Hills were the parents of:
