PIONEER WOMAN CALLED TO REST – Mrs Eleanor Higman, 93, Probably Oldest of Native Daughters; Her Uncles Both Famous Judges Here. – Mrs Eleanor F Higman, widow of I N (Isaac Newton) Higman, a pioneer of Tippecanoe County, passed away a 7:10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of her son, Francis N Higman, on the North Ninth street road. She had been an invalid for the past three years and death was due to complications. Mrs Higman was the daughter of Edmunds and Nancy Harris Huff and was born August 20, 1832, on the site of the present county farm. Judge Samuel Huff and Judge John Petit, both distinguished jurists, were her uncles. In August 1857, she was united in marriage to I N Higman, who died 52 years ago. Eight children were born to the union, four of whom survive. They are Francis N Higman, with whom she made her home for the past twelve years; Robert E Higman and Perry Higman, and Mrs Anna Lairy, of Hennessy, Oklahoma. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The deceased was a member of St Paul's M E church and was a highly esteemed woman. Eleanor Huff Higman married Josiah Gadgcombe 2nd on July 30, 1874 they divorced in 1876.
