Mr. Robert L. "Bob" Hawkins, 77 of Panama City Beach, FL passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 2:00 pm June 8, 2004 at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Birmingham, AL he has lived in Bay County for four years, coming from Marietta, GA Bob worked for Rust Engineering Company, Atlantic Steel Company, and retired from the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA where he was Director of Maintenance as well as a Member. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Ellen Bernice Hawkins. Surviving are 4 sons, Michael Hawkins of Culleoka, TN, Daniel Wayne Hawkins of Lawrenceville, GA, Kenneth Dale Hawkins of Panama City Beach, FL, Richard Allen Hawkins of Charlotte, NC, brother, Joseph Dean Hawkins of Martinsville, IN, sister, Carol Byrne of Troy, IL, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Tuesday. In lieu of flowers Contributions made to the First Baptist Church, Smyrna, GA 1275 Church St. 30080.
