Son of Charley and Jessie Shaw Highfield, husband of Frances Elizabeth Smith.

Marion (Uncle Buck) Highfield, 72, Kingston Route 1, died Saturday in a Rome hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Highfield was born July 22, 1897 in Cherokee County, Ala., son of the late Charley and Jessie Shaw Highfield. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was chairman of the board of deacons. He was a retired Battey Hospital employee. He was married to the former Ether Reynolds Highfield, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters. Mrs. Rodylee Drummond and Mrs. Lula Rosser, Cedartown, three step-daughters Mrs. Virginia Ely and Mrs. Lillian Ely, both of Rome and Mrs. Willie Hart, Houston, Tex.; one son Lewis Highfield, Houston, Tex.; six step-sons, Tom Reynolds, Silver Creek, Cliff Reynolds, Cartersville, Douglas, Harold, Arthur, Charlie Reynolds, all of Rome; two brothers, Hance Highfield of Calhoun and Henry Highfield of Lindale, one half brother, Julius Highfield, Rome, one sister, Mrs. Dovie Rusk, Rome; one half Sister, Mrs. Ethel Spears, Rome, 16 grandchildren, 23 Great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Herschel Caldwell and Jimmy Molter officiating. Interment will be in Forney, Ala. Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie in state at the residence until time for service. Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. (Rome News Tribune, Sunday, April 6, 1969, page 2B)
