Shirley Patricia Stead Wagner, 72, of Lafayette, died at 4:05 AM Thursday, March 11, 1999, in Valparaiso Care Nursing Home, Valparaiso, IN, after a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 9, 1926, in Lafayette, she was a life resident. She was married to Dean Robert Wagner on Sept. 19, 1947, in Lafayette ; he died Jan. 16, 1991.

Mrs. Wagner had worked for Dunn and Hargitt Publishing for several years. She was a member of American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Dianne O'Malley of West Lafayette; one son, Steve Wagner of Lafayette; two sisters, Clois Kull and Charlotte Spurgeon, both of Lafayette; and two grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Russell Stead.
