Farol L. Anderson, 85, of San Rafael, California, a member of Salem United Church of Christ, died Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2005 at in San Rafael. "Farol was an inspiration to her family and friends. She devoted her life to serving others and considered motherhood her highest calling. Farol was a woman of unusually strong character and faith." She was born in Monroeville, IN and lived in Fort Wayne from her early teens until nine years ago when she moved to San Rafael. Farol was a volunteer for the Limberlost Girl Scout Council and was an active church member who "looked for the silver lining" as she dealt with adversity. She won the title of women's state archery champion in Indiana for five consecutive years from 1945 to 1950. Always an active person, she loved to dance and play with her grandchildren. Surviving are her three sisters, Grace Long of Fort Meyers, FL. Ruth Brown of Lady Lake, FL, and Marion Ramsey of New Haven, IN; her son, Steven Earl of Syracuse, IN; daughters, Sharon Augsburger of Libertyville, IL, Kathy Troutner of San Rafael, CA, and Joyce Bubb of Dekalb, IIL; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; preceded in death by her husband Earl William Anderson in 1999. Service is 10am Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave with calling 1/2 hr prior on Friday. Calling 1 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Thurday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Salem United Church of Christ.
