Samuel was a 24 year-old Shoemaker from Methuen, MA, when he enlisted and was mustered into military service on July 5, 1861. Taken prisoner at Spottsylvania on May 19, 1864, Samuel died at Andersonville on July 28, 1864 due to Chronic Diarrhea.
