Age 85, a lifetime resident of North Chicago, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his home.

Ed was born in Waukegan in 1927 and was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner's Mate specializing in weaponry. Later, he worked as a load dispatcher at Commonwealth Edison and retired after 35 years of employment. Ed was a union steward for IBEW Local #1461 and was a member of the North Chicago VFW and the American Legion. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in Wisconsin and Canada.

Edward is survived by his brother, Raymond (Joan) Dolence of Lake Villa; sister, Ruth Mears of Pine Bluff, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julia Rules.

A memorial service, officiated by Father Yanos, will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., at 1:30pm with visitation from 12:30pm until the time of service. Inurnment will follow in Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Ed's memory would be appreciated.
