He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and attended Moriah Baptist Church. Mr. Helton retired from Roadway Express after 31 years of service and was a member the Teamsters Local 528. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are sons, Charles Edward (Tiger) Helton Jr., Rossville, Ronny Shane (Amanda) Helton, Chickamauga, Ga.; daughters, Brenda (Robert) Cameron, Flat Rock, Ala., Debbie (Roger) Skelton, Chickamauga, Kristi (Charlie) Stone, Ringgold, Amber Helton, Ringgold; sisters, Peggy Ireton, Chickamauga, Jean Smith, Oceanside, Calif.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Lynn officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. EST in Dodson Cemetery, Pikeville, Tenn.
