SCOTTSVILLE – Shirley Brown Atwell, 65, of Scottsville, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at her residence.
Born Dec. 24, 1943, in Warren County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Brown and Georgia Brooks Brown. She was a retired cashier from Kroger Co., a member of Berea Christian Church, a member of Cave Country Sam's Camping Club, loving wife, mother and "Nanny."
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Larry Atwell; one son, Kevin Atwell and wife Maria of Scottsville; one daughter, Patricia Furlong and husband Todd of Glasgow; one brother, Donald "Red" Brown of Russellville; six grandchildren: Tyler Furlong, Micaela Atwell, Chris Furlong, Shawn Furlong, Zachary Atwell and Justin Furlong; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul W. Brown, and three sisters, Margie Petty, Jean Claypool and Mollie Carder.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green with burial in Berea Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
