Her husband Henry is buried in New Harmony Cemetery, but her death certiciate said she is buried here, so not sure where she is yet.

Hattie Ella (Jones) Herring is my husband's great grandmother. Back in the 1970's, when I first started working on family history, her grandson, Ralph Herring Kerns, (an LDS member who had worked on genealogy) told me his grandmother was buried at LaDue Cemetery. Ralph was born in 1918, making him 10 years old at the time of his grandmother's death. He described to me exactly where his grandmother was buried. He also told me she had a tombstone beside her husband in New Harmony Cemetery, but that she was definitely not buried there.

Since her daughter, Ralph's mother, Mary Elizabeth (Herring) Kerns lived until 1948, Ralph would have ample time to visit the cemetery with his mother. Ralph also told me that Hattie Ella Jones Herring has no tombstone in LaDue Cemetery, LaDue, Henry County, Missouri, even though it is her final resting place. No actual correction is needed as you show her as buried in LaDue Cemetery, but I thought you would appreciate this verification of the facts.

Hattie Ella Herring was born in Selby County, Ky., December 20th, 1858, and passed away December 31, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.A. Kearns, where she had made her home the last three years, age 70 years, 11 days.

She came to Missouri, Buchanan County, at the age of 17 where she resided until 1910, coming to Henry County where she had since lived. She was married to H.C. Herring, April 30, 1876. Two children survive: Mrs. G.A. Kearns, of Clinton, and H.G. Herring of St. Joseph, Mo. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Mrs. Dora Holmes of Hemple, Mo., and Mrs. Jennie Burgin of Hollester, Oklahoma.

She was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Leeton, Mo. She was a loving wife and mother, a great lover of her home and a good neighbor, ever ready to help those in need. Her labors on earth are ended and she has gone to her reward.

Rev. Lindsey conducted the funeral service at the LaDue Christian church Tuesday afternoon. Interment in the LaDue cemetery.
