Family information was found in an article about the 80th wedding anniversary of Henry and Lena Knudsen Johnson (Sine's daughter), published in the Audubon County Journal, Friday, Feb. 4, 2000:
"Her mother [Sine] was 16 years old when she left Denmark to come to the home of her sister, who was ill. Two years later, she married her sister's widower--Lars Hansen was left with four children to raise. Ten years later, he was killed when a team of horses he was driving, bolted. This couple had five children one which died in infancy. When Larsen died, this left his widow with eight children to raise and 40 acres of land to tend to. Three years later she married Peter C. Knudsen, and to this union, Lena and her four siblings were born."
Audubon County Death Register: Sine Kathrine Knudsen, 89, was a citizen of the USA. Her father was Christen J. Christensen and mother was Abigail Jensen. Informant of Sine's death was Charlie Knudsen. Caus of her death was myocardial decomposition + old age, as noted by Gerald E. Larson, M.D. Burial was in the Adventist Cemetery at Exira, IA.
