Aaltje Jans married on 17 February 1811 at the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) of Wanswerd and Jislum to Haring Tjallings. They were both residing then in the tiny country village Jislum, municipality Ferwerderadeel, about two miles south of her birthplace Blija.
Her father Jan Annes adopted in March 1812 at his residence place Blija for himself and his five children, including Aaltje, the surname Miedema.
Aaltje Jans Miedema died on 11 November 1869 at the age of 81 years in her birth village Blija, house number 58. Her husband Haring Tjallings Feenstra died three weeks later at the same place at the age of almost 83 years.
