Son of James Ivey Lawson & Margaret "Peggy" {Carr} Lawson, Frank served in the Civil War under the alias of James D. Lawson. Family lore has it he served with the Union side in the conflict. His 1st wife Nancy O'Steen died from complications of childbirth on Oct 18, 1860 - son James Coffee Lawson - was born 8 days earlier on Oct 10, 1860 . Frank then married Sarah on February 26, 1863 in Florence, Alabama. They had at least 6 children: Mary; William Henry; Albert Greenberry; Ivey Asberry; James Howard; and George A. Lawson.
