Newton - William Dowd Rumfelt, 67, of 1289 Dixie St., died Jan. 3, 2003. A funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Burke Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he attended North Newton Baptist Church and was owner/operator of Rumfelt Appliance Company. He was a member of the Quarter Century Plus Club qith 26 years of service with Carolina Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara C. Rumfelt; ywo daughters, Pamela Burgin of Alexis and Kathy Girtman of Brunswick, Ga.; three sisters, Joann Giles, Shirley Lynn and Pauline Barnhill, all of Lincolnton; and four grandchildren, Candice Burgin, Jeremy Burgin, Ashlee Girtman and Eric Girtman.
