Beloved wife of Frank Steffen. Dear mother to at least 8 known children:

1. Henry W. Steffen-born about 1862 in Illinois. He married Margaretha Biehn, daughter of Fredrick and Bertha (Steffen) Biehn, on January 8, 1885 in Racine County. He was a farmer in Paris Township, Kenosha County, WI. They had 2 known sons: Alfred Louis (October 13, 1887) and Frank Ferdinand (September 30, 1888).

2. William Steffen-born April 8, 1863.

3. Frank Steffen-born about 1866.

4. Frederica Steffen-born March 1867 in Milwaukee, WI. She married Carl August Bretzke, German immigrant son of Fredrick and Louise (Brandenburg) Bretzke, on July 28, 1884 in Racine County, WI. They had 5 known children: Louise Wilhelmina Hahn (April 4, 1885--1954, buried next to her husband Henry in Union cemetery in the same block as her parents), ?Frank Carl (July 6, 1886), Helene (August 26, 1887--August 19, 1888). She is buried in Sylvania Cemetery. Bertha (March 7, 1889--Oct. 14, 1901, she is buried at the foot of her parents' grave in Union Cemetery in Milwaukee. Freda Esther Ann Bouchard (March 19, 1894--May 25, 1968; she is buried next to her husband Harry P. Bouchard in Allouez Cemetery in Green Bay, WI). Carl Bruno Bretzke (July 28, 1897--October 27, 1953; he is buried next to his wife Hyacinth Mary Kilp Bretzke in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, block 41).

5. Bertha Steffen-born Sept 21, 1870 in LaCrosse, WI; married William Smith, son of Matthew and Catherine Smith (lived in Mt. Pleasant Township), on March 9, 1888 in Racine County, WI., and died July 18, 1919.

6. Julius E. Steffen -born Sept. 1872; served in the Wis. Infantry; died March 12, 1941; buried in Sylvania Cemetery.

7. Charles John Steffen-born 1874; died February 11, 1944; buried in Sylvania Cemetery.

8. Josephine Steffen-born July 22, 1877; married to Otto W. Koch; died March 2, 1939; buried in Sylvania Cemetery. They had one son: Daniel S. Koch of Milwaukee, WI.
