In 1871 Leander married Julia Ann Frazier of Granville County, NC. They lived in Halifax County, VA. They were on the 1880 US Census in Halifax County, VA. They moved to Kentucky shortly after the census. They first lived near Maxon Mills, McCracken County, KY. They moved to Hinkleville, Ballard County. Julia died after complications of pregnancy/child birth. She is buried in a family cemetery near Future City, McCracken, KY. I don't know exactly where this cemetery is or if her grave is marked.
Leander married Sallye Porter Jerrell and they purchased a farm on Smokey Road, Oscar, Ballard County, KY. They did not have any children. Leander and his family attended Baptist Church. In VA they attended Aaron's Creek Baptist Church near South Boston, Halifax County, VA. He donated land for the Oscar Community Church cemetery. His brother, Robert S. Cass Yancey was the first person buried in the cemetery.
Leander and Sallye went to the World's Fair in St. Louis, Mo. They traveled to VA and was in Halifax County visiting when his brother, Charles Yancey, died. They also traveled to CA several times to visit Leander's oldest son, Archillie D. Yancey and his family.
Leander was president of the Kentucky Farmer's Union Tobacco M'f'g Company. The union was in Murray, Calloway Co., KY and Leander was living in Oscar. His mailing address was La Center, KY.
Leander was a strict Southern Baptist, a Democrat, a member of the Odd Fellows and loved his family. He helped many people. His older sister, Susan Ann Yancey Davis moved in with Leander and Sallye after she went blind. Leander helped her apply and receive for a Confederate Widows Pension. Susan is buried in an unmarked grave on Leander's plot in Oscar Community Cemetery.
