Farmer and miller, married first Julia Ann Gillespie and after her death he married Roxanna Mira Smith. The date of his death on his tombstone is incorrect, he died during a blizzard according to his descendant. Because the snow was so deep, boards were placed on the front porch of his home to slide his coffin down to take it to the cemetery.
