T. Stanton Armour died at his home in Lake Forest, IL on May 18, 2009 of a long illness. He was 85. After graduating from St. Mark's School in 1942 he served for 3 years in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Yale University in 1949. He had a long career in the investment business. Serving as President and Chairman of Mitchell Hutchins and Co. and as a Director of Paine Weber and UBS. A lifelong and enthusiastic sportsman, Mr. Armour was President of the Ruffed Grouse Society and also a Trustee of Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. He was Chairman of the Salvation Army Chicago Advisory Board. A life Trustee of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Chairman of the Northwestern Memorial Foundation. He was also a member of the Prints and Drawings committee of the Chicago Art Institute. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Reddy Armour; two children, Tony (Robin) Armour and Audrey Ayars; four grandchildren; a brother Vernon Armour and sisters Elizabeth Hollins and Leola Macdonald. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chicago Chapter of the Salvation Army, 5040 N. Pulaski, Chicago, IL 60630. No visitation. Interment private. Memorial Mass 12 noon Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest, IL 60045.
