Mrs. Katherine Lavina Elder of Summerville, Pa., passed away after a three months illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bartlett, March 21st at 1:30 a.m. Death was due to a heart ailment. She was born at Roseville, Pa., March 17th, 1873, being aged 68 years, at the time of death. She was a daughter of Abraham and Margaret Ann (Hardin) Haugh. She was married to Charles W. Elder, Sr., at Clarington, Pa on February 25th, 1891. Former places of residence were Eldorado, Kansas; Clarksburg, West Virginia.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Margaret Bartlett, of Summerville; Joseph Elder of Cairo, W. Va.. Also nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs. Jennie Brown of Corsica; Jonathan Haugh, M.H. Haugh of Nowata, Okla.; J.M. Haugh, Caney, Kan.; D.R. Haugh, of Harrisville, W. Va.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, Summerville, and a member of the Lady Macabee Lodge.
Funeral services were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bartlett, Monday, March 24th, 1941 at 3:30 with the Rev. Jake Stigers officiating. Interment in the Westview Cemetery, Summerville.
