SILVER STAR CITATION: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Lieutenant Colonel Robert W. Rickert (MCSN: 0-5407), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against an armed enemy while serving with the First Marine Division (Reinforced), during the period 29 November 1950 to 4 December 1950. His actions contributed materially to the break-through of United Nations troops in the Chosin Reservoir area and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
