He grew up in California and Washington and moved to Des Moines with his family in 1973. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended Moody Bible Institute. He was a proud dad and avid fan of his kids' music, sports, academics, and church activities. He enjoyed music, golf, fishing, shirtless sledding, and family reunions. Professionally, he was a talented finish carpenter; an artist on every job. He was a respected member of Grace Church in Des Moines and will be missed by many, many friends.
Jonathan is survived by his wife, Rhonda; three children, Michael, Anna and James; his parents, Michael and Janet McCourt; his siblings, Gail (Don) Gunstone of Portland, OR, Glenna (Mike) Bleadorn of New Berlin, WI, Jeffrey (Peggy) McCourt of Plymouth, MN, Georgene (Dennis) White of Polk City, and Carolyn (Jeff) Anderson of Santander, Spain; and his mother-in-law, Sue Moore. Uncle Jon will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church and/or Rekindled Hearts Ministries in loving memory of Jonathan. We grieve for Jon, but not without hope. He is at peace in the arms of Jesus, his Savior.
