Son of Steve & Ellen Becker Swygman

Alex Lee Swygman, 23, of Cedar Falls, Iowa passed away on January 1, 2002 at Country View in Waterloo, Iowa of brain cancer.

Alex was born on October 16, 1978 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Steve and Ellen (Becker) Swygman. He attended the Janesville School System and graduated from the Janesville High School in 1997.

During high school, he participated in football and also worked agter school for the Janesville Locker. Following his graduation, Alex worked for J&J Metal Spinnin in New Hartfod, Iowa, and then went to work for Powers Engineering in Cedar Falls. During this time, he also helped at Whitey's Auto Sales in Janesville.

In September of 2000, he began working for Hudson Municipal Pipe in Hudson, Iowa. Early in 2001, he was diagnosed with Astrocytomytoma, a brain condition, that caused him to spend several weeks in Iowa City. After taking chemotherapy, to no avail, he moved to Country View in Waterloo.

Alex loved to ride motorcycles, a passion he developed as a very young man. He also loved cars, and had hoped to find an old classic to rebuild, and enjoyed helping at Whitey's Auto because of this. The Minnesota Vikings was his team, especially when they were winning. Alex just loved life, and all that it had to offer.

Survivors are his parents, Ellen Boardsen and her husband, John, of Waterloo, Iowa and Steve Swygman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; brother, Rex Swygman of Denver, Colorado and a sister, Lindsey Swygman of Cedar Falls, Iowa and by his maternal grandmother, Virginia Becker of Rosewood Estates in Waterloo, Iowa.
