Oldest child of the 7 Sager children orphaned on the Oregon Trail. They were cared for by the Marcus and Narcissa Whitman family at Waiilatpu in the Oregon Country, now Walla Walla Washington.
He was killed at the age of 16 along with his 14 year old brother, Francis Sager.
Their five sisters survived the attack but little Hannah Louise died from sickness after being held captive by the Indians.
