James Everett Matney, 76, of Fort Gay, West Virginia, husband of Betty Jane Brewer, passed away Monday, September 17, 2007, in Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 AM Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Young Funeral Home Chapel, Louisa, with Wid Allen and Everett Meddings officiating. Interment follows at the Matney Family Cemetery, Fort Gay. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr Matney was the retired owner of Matney Lumber Company. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners, and of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. He was born December 27, 1930 at Man, West Virginia, a son of the late John and Lillie Justice Matney.
In addition to his wife, Mr Matney is survived by two sons, James Matney of Jacksonville, Florida, and Thomas Matney of Fort Gay; a sister, Molly Rife of Virginia; two brothers, William Matney and Wayne Matney, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Young Funeral Home, Louisa is assisting the family.
