OBITUARY -- MRS. G.M. ELMORE

Another pioneer citizen has passed away. Death has again come into Roby and taken from our number Mrs. Mary Ann Elmore. She was born in Randolph county, North Carolina, in the year 1843; died at her home near Roby, September 18, 1933; age 90 years. The day and month of her birth unknown, because of fire which destroyed their home, in which the family record burned.

She was the daughter of John Kimrey and Elizabeth Ephlin Kimrey.

She was married to G.M. Elmore in the year 1894. They have lived on the farm here all these years except four years they spent in California.

Aunt Mary was one of a large family. She has one brother living, C. E. Kimrey, Roby, Mo.; one sister, Narcisis Hamilton, address unknown. Deceased are six brothers: Milton, John, Alfred, Hiram, Harvey, Sam; one sister, Sarah Jane Kimrey.

Funeral services were held at Knob cemetery on September 19, conducted by Rev. L.P. Jarvis, her favorite pastor, who has labored among them in his early ministry in this county.

She accepted Jesus as her Saviour early in life and united with the Christian church and remained faithful in this belief.

It will be remembered that just six weeks before Aunt Mary's death she gave up her sister, Sarah Jane Kimrey, whose death was so sudden and was a shock to all. These pioneer citizens worked and planned together all their lives and they were very devoted to each other. Their interest was at home in their work, which was indeed a pleasure to them. They have lived at a time when they made their own clothes out of wool and flax. May the youth of our community look upon the lives of these aged pioneers and picture what our forefathers and mothers in the way of devoting their time to the home and family and in the days where work was a pleasure.

Our community grieves over the loss of these two good women.

Aunt Mary is survived by her husband, to whom we owe our sympathy and respect in his hours of bereavement. He is also an aged and honorable citizen, an honest and upright man. May God give him strength in yielding himself submissive to His will, for God's will be done, not ours.

Not now, but in the coming years, it may be in a better land, we'll read the message of our tears, and there, some time, we'll understand. God knows the way, He holds the key; He guides us with unerring hand; sometime with tearless eyes we'll see -- yes, there, up there, we'll understand.

CARD OF THANKS

Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to those who helped us during the sickness and after the death of our dear wife and sister, Mary Ann Elmore. We certainly appreciate and praise all for their sympathy and devotion, in this, another sad hour of our bereavement. These acts and deeds of kindness will always be remembered. May God ever bless you is our prayer.
