Margaret Carey

Mrs. Margaret Cleo Carey, 80, died Sunday night at her residence after an extended illness.

She was a native of Jeff Davis County, daughter of the late Joseph T. Rowland and Lula Foskey Rowland, and widow of Hugh Dorsey Carey.

She had made her home in Waycross for the past 40 years. She was affiliated with the Full Gospel Church of God and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.

Survivors include one son, Offie Lamar Rowell, Waycross; four daughters, Mrs. Lois Beaty, Mrs. Lurlyne Chancey and Mrs. Carletta Brookshire, all of Waycross and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Steverson, St. Marys; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 11am in the chapel of Miles-Odum Funeral Home. The body will be taken to Liberty Baptist Church in Hazlehurst where it will lie in state from 2 to 3pm with burial at 3pm in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9pm at the funeral home.
