Patricia Ann Groening, 69, of Portland died of heart failure Jan. 24, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Everett, WA and raised in Portland, she attended Ainsworth Elementary and Lincoln High School. She married Chris von Hinckeldey in 1964 with whom they has two daughters. She earned her B.A. from Goddard College in Vermont in 1975 and B.F.A. in Painting with top honors from the Pacific NW College of Art in Portland in 1991. Her art is represented by Augen Gallery of Portland. She is survived by daughters, Emily Valdez and Kate Werdebaugh; grandchildren, Christopher and Celeste Valdez; mother, Margaret; and siblings Mark, Matt, Lisa and Maggie. She is preceded in death by her father, Homer. A celebration of life held at Augen Gallery.
