AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth B. Lewallen, 85, a devoted Mother, Grandma and loving sister went to be with our Lord and Savior December 16, 2006. Mrs. Lewallen was the wife of the late Cooledge Lewallen and was retired Director of Admissions at University Hospital. Mrs. Lewallen was a member of Mann Memorial United Methodist Church since the age of 8. She was President of the Urban Ministries Community Clothing Center for 21 years. One of her many hobbies included crocheting and donating blankets to Walton Rehabilitation Center and the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Mrs. Lewallen was the recipient of St. Joseph Hospital's Good Samaritan Award in 1985. She is cherished and loved by her family and will be missed dearly. Survivors include her four children; Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Lewallen of Augusta, Junior (Judy) Lewallen of Augusta, Gene (Janet) Lewallen of Augusta, and Frank Lewallen of Augusta, two sisters; Mildred Holbrook of Harlem , GA and Ann Y. Poole of Deer Park, Ohio, brother; Frank (Margie) Young of Chamblee, GA, two special granddaughters; Shawn (Peter) Chin of Augusta and Shannon (Chris) Gibson of Martinez, five grandchildren; Wayne Lewallen, Brian (Katie) Lewallen, Clayton Lewallen, Ryan Lewallen and Katie Lewallen all of Augusta, two special great-granddaughters; Alex Gibson and Ansley Gibson of Martinez and great-granddaughter Lauren Lewallen of Augusta. She also leaves behind and host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 19,2006, 3:00 PM, from Mann Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Compton, Rev. Bob Hoeller and Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to: The United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA 30030 or to Mann Memorial United Methodist Church The family will receive friends (this evening) Monday, December 18, 2006 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd.
