VIRGINIA MAE ANDERSON
November 16, 1933 ~ April 13, 2013

"Virginia's greatest happiness was being with her family whether at home or out camping. She would embrace every opportunity to be with them all. "

Virginia Mae Anderson, 79, a Kelso, Washington area resident for over 50 years, died peacefully, surrounded by the ones she loved, under Hospice and family care at her home in South Kelso, Washington. She was born Nov. 16, 1933 in Blakely, Georgia to Obra and Eva Weaver, one of nine children. Virginia graduated from Blakely Union High School in 1953.

Shortly after, she married James E. Anderson, Sr. in 1955, who was stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia for the Army. They moved from the Blakely area to Amboy, Washington in 1955 to settle down and start a family. After several years, they then moved to Kelso, Washington for the rest of her life.

Virginia worked various jobs, including: bartending, janitorial work, Monticello Hospital and finally owned and operated the "Ol Tima" Tavern before retiring.

She enjoyed quilting, dancing, pool, shuffle board teams, gardening and canning vegetables. Virginia mostly enjoyed the time that she spent with her four grandkids and two great-grandchildren during her retirement years.

Virginia is survived by her children, James E. Anderson Jr. of Vancouver, Washington, Lila M. Hansen (Jim) of Longview, Washington, Eva C. Anderson and Edmond L. Anderson (Tina) both of Kelso, Washington; grandchildren, Crystal B. Phipps-Bloomfeld USN, (DJ) of Norfolk, Virginia, Jacob H. Hansen USN of Bremerton, Washington, Cory J. Anderson and Catherine M. Anderson, both of Longview, Washington; great-grandchildren, Ryker and Lillyan (who made her smile all the way to the end); her sister, Pat Brown of Abbeville, Alabama; brother, Jimmy Weaver of Blakely, Georgia; many nieces and nephews, who reside in the South; her brother-in-law, Lee Anderson (Linda); niece, Tracy Troci of Vancouver, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, James E. Anderson, Sr. in 1983.

Memorial services were held on May 11, 2013 at Central Christian Church, 401 Crawford, Kelso, Washington.
